Paris to Bordeaux…

Posted in Life in France by Dakota on January 13, 2011

Bonjour! Good morning from Bordeaux, France. I took the train from Paris to Bordeaux yesterday! This is the view from the apartment, an old building which is about two hundreds years old!! I still can’t believe I am here. Bordeaux is one of the most amazing cities I have seen as of yet, moreover, where I am living makes me awe, just from looking out the window. I can see all of the incredible French architecture outside, and I haven’t even ventured out into the city yet. To the left is a beautiful bronze angel in the distance, and to the right are streets of cosmopolitan alleyways.

The train from Paris to Bordeaux was truly stunning. I got to see the countryside all the way to Bordeaux. The old French houses, villages, castles, roads, and mysterious winter scenery. Not to mention the spectacular vineyards, all covered in crystal-like frost! Breathtaking. Last year I would never have dreamt that I’d be here in France. Right now it still feels like a dream! Aaah!

My apartment is located on the top floor, so I can see all of the rooftops around here for miles, and as I write this, I can hear the sound of pigeons outside, a contrast to the Arabic music I can hear from an old café across the road!

Here’s the view from the right of my window!

And so today, on my first day in France, I thought I’d start this journal. To write and photograph about my new experiences. I still can’t believe I am here! The Arabic tabla has stopped outside, and now I can hear the sound of jazz music, I have no idea where it’s coming from, but it’s alluring. I feel really inspired!

In two days we’re going to London for the weekend. That was my Christmas present from my love this year! I feel spoilt! I am so excited because we’re going to the Tate art gallery in London where they’re exhibiting work by my all time favorite artist, Paul Gauguin!!! I’ve seen prints of his work back in Tahiti, but I’m thrilled to be seeing his originals in a few days time. We’re also going to Cirque du Soleil, and lots of other interesting places around London. I can’t wait!

Je t’aime mon amour.
